Fear of Dentistry Dallas

Serving Dallas, University Park, Plano, Fort Worth, and Surrounding Areas

At Dallas Designer Smiles, we love meeting people who are afraid of the dentist – because we love to change their minds!

From the moment you walk into our Dallas, Texas sedation dentistry office, we aim to put you at ease. We have soft lighting, and a clean, comfortable work environment. Our staff is very attentive, and will answer any and all of your questions clearly and professionally. (To learn more about our office, visit What to Expect During Your Consultation.)

Another way we help to create a pleasant dental experience is with sedation dentistry. Sedation dentistry is when you take a mild sedative beforehand, so you will be completely relaxed and anxiety-free during the procedure.

You take the sedative (for example Valium) about an hour before you go to the dentist's office. During the procedure, you will be conscious, but extremely relaxed. Afterward, you'll need someone to drive you home, since you may be drowsy.

Another method Dallas sedation dentist Dr. Strader may use on you is "laughing gas." This is a gas (nitrous oxide) you breathe in through a mask. The effects are very similar to Valium – you will be conscious during the procedure, but extremely relaxed. Nitrous oxide, however, does not last as long as valium, so, in most cases, you'll be okay to drive yourself home.

Of course, at the root of all dental fears is the fear of the unknown. Aside from providing sedation dentistry in Dallas Texas, we will also explain every step of every procedure. When you have a clear understanding of what we're doing, you'll find your apprehension level dropping.

What is the difference between Sedation Dentistry and Sleep Dentistry?

Don't let a fear of the dentist's chair keep you from the smile you deserve. If you are in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area, please contact us today to learn more about sedation dentistry.
