Questions about Tooth Crowns

Serving the Dallas Metroplex, Plano, Fort Worth, and Surrounding Areas

What are crowns?
Dental crowns are covers, or "caps," for your teeth. They completely cover your tooth.

What is porcelain?
Porcelain is a ceramic material which is similar in both look and feel to natural teeth.

What dental problems do crowns fix?
Tooth Crowns can fix chips, cracks, discoloration and wear. Since they completely cover the tooth, they are often used in "smile makeovers." Click here for our "Extreme Makeover" page.

How are the crowns placed on the tooth?
Your natural tooth is first reduced in size slightly. Then, a mold of your tooth is taken. This mold is sent to a dental lab, where the crown is fabricated out of porcelain. Dr. Strader then attaches the crown to your tooth with a dental cement and dental laser.

How long does the application process take?
Typically, it takes about three appointments over the course of a month.

Dr. Strader treats patients throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area, including Plano, Highland Park and University Park. For more information, please contact us today.
